Tom Colbie, highly original in his work, is called by many the “astronaut artist.” Colbie's world flows into the oneiric with decadent buildings, desert or space landscapes with visions of optical games. Original bright colors, the file rouge is always the astronaut explorer, who has accompanied Tom since 1969, from that fateful night when he got up to watch with his father the Apollo 11 moon landing commanded by Neil Armstrong. Astronaut who draws the viewer's attention in the most diverse outdoor and indoor landscapes, from the stage of a theater, to the Arena of Verona where he inserts the iconic city symbols, Juliet's balcony and the Lamberti tower; we find him in the Vitruvian man or in a Venetian calle where he probes to find water to give to a giraffe, and again as he emerges from Central Park lake exclaiming She is not Here.
The printing technique used, Giclée fine art, is a combination of high resolution files, printed on fine art paper with the use of a highly professional inkjet printer.
