Expositio pulcherrima hymnorum per annum secundum Curiam non amplius impressa
Date: Venice, per Simonem de Luere. In contrata Sancti Cassiani,1513
Cod 6035
1.650,00 €
In 8° (mm 150x100). 56 numbered papers (a-o), the work ends with a table of hymns in alphabetical order. Silographic vignette on the frontispiece depicting a king in his study, intent on consulting texts and surrounded by the classic intelligible objects of the culture of the time; a starry sky dominates the image, a landscape closes it. The woodcut was previously used in 1488 by Nicola Balager 'called Castilia' for a flying calendar; and again later in 1510 in 1511 in two other texts also printed by Simone de Luere. Wooden figured capolettera, italic font. Full modern red morocco with sinewy spine and title stamped in gold, gilt dentelles. Very good specimen with wide margins, handwritten note at the foot of the title page; slight reddening to only a few cards. Rare edition by Simone di Luere (Lovere), a printer originally from Lovere near Bergamo, active in Venice from 1489. He used typographic material that had already belonged to Lazzaro Soardi. Essling, III, 267; 9 identifications on ICCU.
