Two folio volumes, mm 480x310, bound in light-colored publisher's cloth with title embossed in gold on the plate of the main volume only, 20 maps total. Rare first edition of this elegant and famous atlas of Italy publication directed by Prof. Giovanni De Agostini on behalf of the publisher ItalGeo, accompanied by the interesting two-color text by G. Laeng. Complete with the appendix volume of Corsica, published in a separate volume, often missing. With 19 + 1 (Corsica) chromolithographic maps by the Russian naturalized Italian illustrator Vsevolod Petrovič Nikulin (Nicouline). Vsevolode Nicouline was born in 1890; he was forced into exile after Lenin's victory; he moved to Italy where he married, lived and died working as a well-known illustrator for advertisements, magazines and more. His innovative pictorial taste depicts Italian regions with cities represented with their most representative building in addition to characters agricultural activities, typical products, animals.
