First edition of Harding's work, fundamental to the history of printing: for the first time, the method devised by Charles Joseph Hullmandel (1789-1850) was used to reproduce tonal gradations with colored stones. Harding, an English landscape painter and lithographer, created his landscapes during his travels between September 1824 and October 1835 and brought together in this collection numerous views of German, English, Italian, and French cities. Among the Italian cities, we would particularly like to mention Bergamo, Vicenza, Verona, Venice, Como and Lake Como, Trento, Rovereto, and Desenzano.
