Quarto (290 x 210 mm), pp. XIV, 300. Woodcut head- and tailpieces; contemporary half-vellum binding with corners, flat spine with gilt title on red and green labels and gilt ornamentation, marbled boards. First Italian translation of the *Opus Agriculturae* by Rutilius Taurus Aemilianus Palladius. The translator's name, Paolo Zanotti, appears on leaf III in his dedication to Abbot Giuseppe Pederzani. The work serves as a comprehensive guide to the duties of the farmer and, more broadly, the farm overseer. It includes a calendar outlining tasks for the various seasons and contains numerous references to wine and oenology. "The publisher Paolo Zanotto spared neither effort nor diligence to produce the best possible edition" (Gamba 699).
An excellent copy; internally clean with wide margins and deckle edges. Loss to the lower corner of the front board. Cf. Brunet IV, 324; Graesse V, 109
