In 8° (220x145 mm); XII, 559 pages, including two large folded plates depicting a map of Padua and a map of the province—both engraved by Bresciani after drawings by Patella—as well as 20 exquisite lithographs of Padua (15), Catajo, Arquà, Praglia, Abano, and Saonara. The work was commissioned on the occasion of the fourth meeting of Italian scientists held in Padua on September 14, 1842. Our copy is the one presented to Prof. Mittermeyer and bears the signature of Podestà Valvasori. It features a contemporary publisher’s binding with embossed impressions of the Padua coat of arms in the center of the covers and the title on the spine. Rare to find with the original binding, identical to that described by Fossati-Bellani (2467). This is the most famous and sought-after nineteenth-century guide to the Padua area, compiled by various authors: Fulanetto, Selvatico, Del Rio, etc. An authentic and very well-preserved copy with some restored defects on the hinges, end caps, and corners.
