Interesting translation from the French of this treatise on smallpox inoculation by Dr. Angelo Gatti, consulting physician to the King of France and public professor of medicine in the University of Pisa. In the work, Gatti recounts in four chapters: of the preparation of the vaccine, of the more than a thousand inoculations he made and personally followed; the experiences he made, are devoid of known rules and methods in inoculating, he gives detailed descriptions. A reflection of the author was the fact that no person perished for good luck. He also details the side effects and various diseases attached to the post vaccine that people experienced, but certainly in his opinion, always less risky than natural smallpox. The 'last chapter deals with the medications. Very good copy, unsophisticated. One stain to outer margin on two pages at beginning, slight marginal halo on three pages at end.
