Achille Virgilio Funi (1890–1972) was a painter, fresco artist, and mosaicist originally from Ferrara. After an initial foray into Futurism, he undertook a revival of the classical Italian tradition, reinterpreted in light of the avant-garde movements of the early 20th century. The human figure returned to the center of attention, drawing on a new concept of humanism, proportion, and harmony.
