Rare edition of this commentary on Aristotle's Analytics in two books. Agostino Nifo, a celebrated scholar, professorship in the most important Italian universities, was one of Aristotle's most important commentators and translators. Born in Sessa Aurunca (Caserta) in 1469, he began his studies between Sessa and Naples and then moved to Padua where he deepened his philosophical studies on Aristotle and in 1492 obtained a teaching post in natural philosophy. In 1495, he was appointed full professor and edited several works on Aristotle. After moving to Sessa in 1499, he devoted himself to the study of Greek in order to understand Aristotle's works. During his Sessa and later Neapolitan years, he devoted himself to writing several works. Between 1505 and 1507, he had Galeazzo Florimonte as a student. In 1507, he accepted a professorship at the University of Salerno at the behest of Prince Robert II Sanseverino. Several of his works are in contrast to those of Pomponazzi who says, in order to understand the world, a necessary rational order is needed, also criticising Aristotelian philosophy which excluded the intervention in things of God and other supernatural powers. Good copy with beards, ink stain at east margin of second part of book.
