Copper plate. Mm 360x505, contemporary outline color. An excellent example with wide margins, some light spots and two short contemporary adnotations in left margin. An historical map of Turkey, Cyprus and environs, marking Troy, Smyrna and Byzantium, with Knossos on Crete, Antioch in Syria and Lapathus, Amathus and Paphia on Cyprus. Based upon Philippe De La Rue's rare map of 1652. From the uncommon historical atlas 'Tabulae geographicae quibus universa geographia' published in 1699. The printing house of the Seminary was founded in 1680 by Gregorio Barbarigo, Bishop of Padua; it began its activity in 1684, publishing numerous works, among which the mentioned atlas is undoubtedly one of the most important.
