The title page bears the date 1579, the colophon 1580. The volume contains 28 images.” The author, in addition to having written texts on military art, published in 1578, in the tradition of cartonautical maps, an island guide of the Mediterranean entitled Diporti Notturni. All the maps are inserted in a circular frame with the inscription “Regional Forma et vera postura dell’Isola di…” above, followed by the name of the island. The engraver was a well-known Sienese painter and art dealer, active in Rome between 1578 and 1602, and was likely responsible for the original graphics of the maps. G.
