Plan of the ford on the Wkra River and the battle of Czarnow (now a village in the Nowy Dwór district, Pomiechówek municipality). The clash took place on the night of December 23-24, 1806, and ended with the Russian army escaping. The map shows, among others, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, located in the forks of the Vistula and Bugonarwi rivers, and Modlin (where Napoleon's decision of December 1, 1806, was to soon build the famous fortress). The engraving is by Ambroise Tardieu (1788-1841), a French cartographer and engraver. It comes from a folder devoted to the campaigns of 1807, accompanying a work on the Napoleonic wars by Mathieu Dumas. Very good copy.
