Copper engraving, 350x470 mm, hand-painted. Taken from ‘Italia’, the very important atlas published posthumously by Fabio Magini, son of the famous Paduan astronomer and mathematician, the first to outline and conceive an atlas entirely dedicated to Italy; for this work he made use of numerous unpublished maps, which he managed to find thanks to personal acquaintances. The highly original end result, an amalgamation of previously published printed works and handwritten topographies, was to influence the cartography of the peninsula until the beginning of the 18th century. Exemplar in pleasing colouring, with some restored tears, small restored flaws to the central fold and a few small holes.
