Copper engraving, 460 x 605 mm, hand-painted at the edges. Jean-Baptiste Nolin (1657 - 1725) was a French cartographer and publisher active in Paris between the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Nolin produced very few original works, using mainly material by Coronelli, Cassini, and others. His maps are highly scenic, combining modernity and baroque style. Nolin's son, also named Jean Baptiste Nolin (1686 - 1762), inherited his father's map plates and republished many of his maps, as well as publishing his own, until the 18th century. A fine example with professional restorations at the ends of the central fold.
