Copper engraving, 337x465 mm, hand painted. Uncommon map taken from the "New Universal Geographical Atlas outlined on the latest observations", published in Rome from 1792 to 1801. The Chamber of Calcography commissioned the work to replace the "Geographical Mercury". Giovanni Maria Cassini (1745-1824), a pupil of Piranesi, was a religious man, geographer, globe maker and cartographer. Excellent copy with a halo in the upper margin and some stains in the margins.
