Splendid specimen in excellent condition, wide margins, with numbers 15 and 16 manuscripted at right. Beautiful and important map engraved by Antonio Barbey, depicting the Rivieras of Ponente and Levante, executed on the model of the celebrated milestone surveyed by Joseph Chafrion, engineer to the King of Spain. Taken from "Geographical Mercury" published by De Rossi between 1660 and c. 1730 in increasingly complete editions. Early editions are mostly based on the cartographic work of Cantelli da Vignola, while later and rarer maps inserted over the years are taken from various authors.
