Pleasant copy taken from "L'Italia" the fundamental first atlas with 61 maps of the whole peninsula, which the geographer and mathematician Magini created at the end of the 16th century, but which, due to his death in 1617, was published posthumously by his son Fabio in 1620. Magini made use of two famous engravers of the time for the engravings: the Belgian Arnoldo Arnoldi and the Englishman Benjamin Wright. Thanks to personal contacts with the institutions and the most important cartographers of the time, Magini had at his disposal cartographic material that was sometimes unpublished or in any case unavailable to scholars. His work formed the foundation of all 17th century cartography, being constantly copied by all subsequent authors. A fine copy with good margins
