Copperplate engraving, hand-painted, 380x480 mm. Fine specimen with the text in Spanish on the verso, numbered 94, which testifies to the exact date of 1612, although the map, engraved in 1606 as shown on the plate, had already been included in earlier editions, from 1608 onwards. It bears the dedication in cartouche at the bottom right, to Francesco Maria II della Rovere, whose arms are also depicted. The map is of Magini derivation, or at least can be considered based on the same manuscript source used by Magini himself. The content elements of the map are the same as Magini's definitive map; however, compared to the 1596 version, the map in the Theatrum offers a schematic drawing of the orography, in mole piles. The orientation is not precise, as in Magini's provisional edition of the Duchy, and is excessively east-west; it will in fact be corrected by Magini on his definitive version with the inclusion of a fairly exact wind rose.
Fine specimen, slight transparency to the top and side margins of the descriptive text on the verso.
