Copperplate engraving, mm 730x145, period hand-colored. Large wall map illustrating all of northern Italy just before the Napoleonic conquests. Second state by Pagni himself, co-editor of the first state with Bardi, as Davoli and Sanfelici state in "Terre di Langobardia 1796-1866. Vol II“; they report the map with a date of 1797 in the first state with the title ”Map of the Territory of the Cisalpine Republic," stating that later this and two other states of the plate were published with variations in title and date, as well as other minor differences in geography. The 1802 date appears at the Bertarelli's copy in Milan and is definitely due to the end of the Cisalpine Republic resulting in the birth of the Kingdom of Italy in 1802.
Very good specimen mounted at the time on cloth, with usual traces of use and minor flaws and faults in the paper folds.
