Copper engraving, 356 x 460 mm, hand-painted. From "Italia," the seminal atlas published posthumously by Fabio Magini, son of the famous Paduan astronomer and mathematician, the first to outline and conceive an atlas entirely dedicated to Italy. For this work, he used numerous unpublished maps, which he was able to obtain through personal connections. The highly original final result, a blend of previously published works and manuscript topographies, influenced, due to its modernity, the cartography of the peninsula until the early 18th century. An excellent example with attractive coloring.
