Cod 34779
1.608,00 €
Copper engraving, 87 x 126 mm on 115 x 183 mm sheet, from an edition with French text of Barent Langenes's work "Tabulae geographicae contractae," published by Cornelis Claesz under the title "Thresor de chartes, contenant les tableaux de tous les pays du Monde," with the text translated into French by I. de la Haye. Globe in two hemispheres bearing the name of Jodocus Hondius at the bottom. The map took on a life of its own when it was chosen as the globe in the Caert-Thresoor, a highly successful pocket-sized atlas initially published by Cornelis Claesz in collaboration with Barent Langenes in 1598 in Middelburg, in the far south of the Netherlands, where Langenes was based.
