2.000,00 €
Original etching signed in plate "Tiepolo" in center, from the "Capricci" series. 138x176 mm. Single state. Taken from the definitive edition of "Capricci," one of Giambattista's graphic masterpieces, published in 1785. The series, originally engraved around 1738-39, was initially published by Zanetti in "Raccolta di varie stampe e chiaroscuri" of 1749, although some scholars speculate on an earlier inclusion in "Diversarum Iconum" of 1743. This 1785 edition, which is the first independent edition of Capricci, was published fifteen years after Tiepolo's death, and is believed to have been promoted by his son Giandomenico at the time of the recovery of his father's branches.
Very good impression on typical eighteenth-century Veneto laid paper, short margins a few millimeters beyond the copperplate line, perfectly preserved except for small traces of paper tape on verso. Succi, La Serenissima nello specchio di rame, pag. 460, Tiepolo 50.
