Copperplate engraving, charming period coloring by hand, mm 330x430, Latin text on verso. Perspective plan, shows the dense network of streets and major buildings. Important landmarks, such as the cathedral, are prominently depicted. The map includes two coats of arms and a legend in the lower left corner listing the city's significant sites. Taken from “Civitates Orbis Terrarum,” a milestone in Vedutism, printed from 1572 to 1617 in 6 volumes published in different years in various languages, compiled and written by Georg Braun, while Frans Hogenberg was the author of the engravings together with Simon Novellanus, generally from subjects by Hoefnagel. Very good condition albeit with slight oxidation.
