Copperplate engraving, hand-painted, mm 180x250. Taken from “Nova et accurata Italiae hodiernae descriptio.” Pleasing medium-format perspective view depicting the city. Jodocus Hondius, Latinization from the Dutch of Joost de Hondt (1563-1612) was a Flemish painter, engraver and cartographer. His work, continued by his son of the same name, helped make Amsterdam the center of 17th-century European cartography. Fine specimen with slight spotting.
