Hand-painted copper engraving, 345 x 460 mm. A fine example of this beautiful and celebrated perspective view of the city. From "Civitates Orbis Terrarum," a cornerstone of landscape painting, printed from 1572 to 1617 in six volumes published in different years in various languages. It was compiled and written by Georg Braun, while Frans Hogenberg and Simon Novellanus were the authors of the engravings, generally based on subjects by Georg Hoefnagel. An excellent copy with Latin text on the verso, with a minor defect on the central fold.
