Etching mm 580x385 Loose sheet on laid paper. The plan of Brescia is very similar to those drawn by Pinelli in the previous century, in fact the copper is the same as that engraved by Cagnoni in 1766 and then re-edited three years later with the area devastated by the explosion of the powder magazine of Porta San Nazzaro on 18 August 1769 highlighted in light colour, but in this case a plaque is added in the bottom right-hand corner with a dedication to Baron Teodoro Somenzari, which reads verbatim: ‘To Teodoro Somenzari Commendatore and Baron of the Kingdom/In justice, goodness and charity/Father to his stewards/ Zealous, most vigilant. On the right the legend divided into two columns, on the margin handwritten annotations in brown ink and red pencil; at the top the title with the compass rose. The map shows a study made by colouring the new city plan to be reconstructed in red. A handwritten footnote reads: ‘Brescia li 30 gennaio 1835. The streets coloured in red are those already reconstructed. The lighter red denotes the roads with stone rails. The numbers in red marked on the other roads to be rebuilt correspond to the progressive numbers in the general plan'. Very good specimen with good margins, small restoration to the central fold.
