Copper engraving, 150 × 190 mm. A rare engraving depicting a general view of the city divided into three superimposed sections, taken from *Viaggi del Padre Coronelli…Viaggio d’Italia in Inghilterra, descrittione geografico-historica…*. Coronelli, a dynamic Venetian cleric, was the author, between the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th, of dozens of important publications, including, in addition to the work already mentioned, the globes constructed for the King of France, “Teatro della guerra”, “Isolario”, “Atlante veneto” and “Teatro delle città”. A fine example with an added right margin and a restoration in the upper sky.
Armao 102: “With his ‘Viaggi’, Coronelli anticipated the typical travel guides of the 18th century, although this
work soon fell into oblivion, remaining unknown even to bibliographers”.
