Copperplate engraving, 535x710 mm, sectioned and laid on cloth, as issued, bordered with green silk. Scarce plan of the city of Florence by architect Ferdinando Ruggieri (1691-1741), originally published in 1731. The map shows a very detailed cityscape. The allegorical cartouche at lower left features a man representing the Arno River and the Marzocco, the lion of Florence. The period in which this plan was executed is one of remarkable growth for the city. This map is highly detailed and captures the rich intersection of streets, squares and buildings in Florence.Boffito-Mori. Florence in Views and Plans, p. 78
