Finely executed polychrome watercolor depicting the well-known Veronese sanctuary on the slopes of Monte Baldo; mm 245x288, signed "Gerstmeyer" at bottom on a stone in center. An Austrian landscape painter and draughtsman, Gerstmaeyer studied from 1815-29 at the Vienna Academy. Like his contemporary Rudolf von Alt, he painted many topographical views of Austria and Italy, mostly in watercolor, including for Archduke Rainier. Between 1822 and 1864 he exhibited almost annually at the Vienna Academy. Mus: Vienna (Albertina, Belvedere and others), Graz, Klosterneuburg and others. Mounted in a gilt frame of understated elegance.
