Copper engraving, 240 x 320 mm for the view, 350 x 430 mm including the Rococo ornamental frame designed by Pietro Antonio Novelli, on a 510 x 727 mm sheet. Rare condition, with the ornamental frame of this general view of the city. This engraving is part of a series of 36 city views created and published by Marco Sebastiano Giampiccoli, some of which were created by the engraver himself, others based on designs by various artists. They were sold by G. to the Remondini firm around 1797-98. Marco Sebastiano, son of Giuliano, began engraving, initiated by his father, around 1754. He was the author of a series of 43 views of Venice, and a series of 36 Venetian and Italian cities (eight Venetian cities were dedicated to two engravings, one depicting the general view and the main square: Verona, Vicenza, Padua, Brescia, Bergamo, Udine, Belluno, Feltre). Generally, the views are without a decorative frame, but sometimes, printed on a separate plate, this is added, making the print much more ornamental and significantly increasing the format.Excellent state of preservation, sheet with perfectly preserved edges
